Recently when the visiting football legends Andy Cole and Quinton Fortune were in the country for the English Premier League Trophy tour, the two got a lesson in Kapungala.
The visit was courtesy of Airtel and with Manchester United. Airtel customers had an opportunity to meet and greet two of the club’s legends, prolific striker, Cole and midfield maestro Quinton.
It is during this visit that the King of Kapungala gave the two dance lesson in his self styles musical genre.
A former England International, Cole spent 7 seasons at the club and was part of the team that won 5 of the total 19 English Premier league titles. Customers had a chance to take a photo with the Legend and the English Premier League trophy and also interacted as they watched the Manchester United vs Wigan match that was aired at 9.45pm.
Quinton gave fans the opportunity to compete against him in a fun penalty shoot out and virtual football match on the X-box games console. He also was able to give his thoughts on the season so far and his prediction on the game Vs. Wigan Athletic Club.
The partnership with Manchester United is part of a four year sponsorship and mobile content agreement signed in 2010 that allows select Airtel operations to tap into the football club’s deep reservoir of technical resources and sports marketing expertise. Manchester United under the aegis of its soccer schools banner – Manchester United Soccer Schools – will provide technical support during the soccer clinics planned at the end of the regional and national tournaments.
The Airtel Rising Stars will commence again this year at the provincial finals of the Kenya Secondary Schools games which will be held across all provinces.
